In light of recent events and out of an abundance of caution, the Seymour Chamber of Commerce is canceling all chamber events through April 5th. We have not made this decision lightly and will do our best to reschedule. As we add these events back to the calendar, we will be sure to let everyone know. We will use the Seymour Community School calendar as a guide.
We are canceling events of all sizes because, at this time, the best way to combat COVID-19 is to limit the spread. While we are proud of everything we do at the chamber, none of our events are worth risking your health or worth placing additional burdens on our healthcare providers as a result of unnecessary contact that we facilitated. We hope everyone will understand and we can't wait to get back to business as usual!
Even though our office remains open, we ask that if you need chamber services, please contact us via email or phone when possible. We are encouraging our community to purchase gift cards to support local businesses now to use at a later time, shop online locally and order carry out options for dinner whenever possible- remember to tip your server! We encourage businesses to support each other and share resources and tips. To update your information for the general public, join our Small Town Strong Facebook Group if you haven’t yet. Please let us know what you are doing to protect your business and your employees. Tell us your story. Let us know what else we can do to help.
The next few weeks will be a unique time for us as a community. It will likely be particularly difficult for our small business owners and their employees who rely on all of us to participate in local commerce. Our businesses are resilient, but they need our help. If you have opportunities to buy local, strongly consider it. Once we're back to business as usual, make a concerted effort to spend your dollars in Jackson County. Shop here, eat here, and tip well. While there is likely to be some disruption in all of our lives over the coming weeks, if we come together we can minimize the impact and help each other through a once in a lifetime challenge.
